Education Planning in the Pandemic

We know these are frustrating times.

Like... waiting in line to get your favorite drink only to then drop it in the parking lot times
💯.

If you’re in middle or high school, entering college or planning next steps for after, we want to help in this bizarre, crazy, stressful time in any way that we can.

We’re proudly offering our newest set of Education Planning in the Pandemic workshops, sessions with a consulting for students and families that have questions/concerns/pains with the pandemic heading into the upcoming school year.

Along with reviewing family/student specific questions and concerns our workshop is fully customized for the family and - while no one has all of the answers these days - we'd be working with as a team, advocating for them applicable, and will always be out front of the required information so that families stay in the know.

This workshop is one to four hours per week, at time and date of your choosing, instructor-led via live-stream (or phone call), and open-enrollment. We do not want to add strain in an already stressful time – we want to do the opposite – encouraging students and families to be confident in their next steps.

These seminars are individualized and customized so that you and your student can get as much value out of them as possible. The sessions focus on the particular needs, capacities, and interests of your student in order to answer questions, set a plan, and lower stress (all while preparing them for what comes next, even if it may be seemingly unknown at this time).

If this interests you and your family, let us know by sending an email to info@leonardandrew.com!

Great Testimonial From One of our Student-Athletes!

A few days ago we received a tremendous letter from a student-athlete that we recently worked with! This was a great message from an incredible, hard-working young man. Mateo worked hard, listened, and applied himself -- he'll be successful in college (and beyond) and we're very proud of him!  The letter, in it's entirety, is here:

"I know it has been a while since we last talked but I just wanted to take some time to thank you for everything.

Without you I would not be even close to the position I am in right now.  Because of you I was able to reach out to my future university and successfully market myself as a player that they wanted.  Because of you I had my eyes opened to a whole new world of opportunity to play college football.  If I did not have you by my side through this recruiting process I would have never crossed paths with The University of Indianapolis.  Because of you I am able to pursue my dreams and continue playing the sport I love.

Aside from football, I appreciate the time you took on phone calls, teaching me how to talk to coaches, and helping me with my college essays.  I got accepted into all but one school I applied to and not only that I received scholarship money from nearly all of them.

I cannot thank you enough for everything you have done for my family and I.

I look forward to keeping you updated about school, football, and what the future has in store for me.  I wish you and everyone at Leonard Andrew nothing but the best!

Thank you for allowing me to make my dreams a reality!  Hopefully you can come out to Indianapolis to watch a game.

Sincerely,
Mateo C. - Indiana"

A simple (but awesome and authentic!) college essay tip >> Write from the heart and show emotion with the intention of getting to the reader’s emotions and tugging at their heartstrings.

Think to yourself – how does this essay make me feel? How will it make the reader feel? Writing authentically about an experience, concept, or something you are absolutely passionate about will make a reader genuinely interested and excited. And writing with this in mind is a win-win: you’ll give the school a great bit of insight into a part of what makes you tick, and you’ll have a much easier time writing it!

Social media tip for those applying to colleges or looking to be recruited by a college coach = Don’t hesitate to show off a little (or a lot)!!

Social media is a living resume which showcases your character. The things that make you authentically YOU? Awards you’ve won? The things you are passionate about? You definitely want to make sure that these are the content pieces that you’re presenting on the Internet for all to see.

You’re already geared towards documenting just about every moment of your life on social, so don’t miss out on an opportunity to share your latest A+ paper or your creation from art class. Showcasing you who are, as well as your activities and interests, is something that colleges are looking for – make sure to impress them! They want more than just transcripts and an academic ace - they want someone who shows passion, who is authentic, and who will contribute positively to their campus.

Post positively, publish proudly!
