Testimonial: How Leonard Andrew Consulting Helped Me

We recently worked with Ashton (Connecticut) to get him into a prep school that fit him best.  Check out his words on how it was working with LAC!

How did LAC help you?

Going into the prep school process, I was unsure of what to expect. I had a few schools in mind, but LAC helped me expand my horizons. After taking the time to learn who I was on an academic, athletic, and personal level, LAC went above and beyond in researching and then suggesting schools where they thought I would fit best. Some of these schools were not on my original list but LAC convinced me to broaden my variety. It turns out that the school I chose to attend wasn’t the school on my original list, but it soon became my dream school which became a perfect fit for me. I would never have such a great and life changing opportunity if it wasn’t for LAC.

What did you like best about working with Chad/LAC?

Typically, doing applications for 4 or 5 schools can be a drag. Writing essays and filling out the information among other tedious endeavors can be repetitive and dull. However, with Chad, it felt as though it was a comfortable, and easy, interview. Having the opportunity to sit on my own couch and relax while being able to talk about myself for an hour or so, made my life so much easier. It saved me a great amount of stress and Chad was nothing but kind, charming and funny. It was easy to develop a friendship with him over time as well.

Describe the specifics of the service LAC provided?

As mentioned earlier, LAC took time to get to know me on a personal level. Chad and his team are dedicated to their job and handpicked schools that would best fit me after taking the time to learn who I was. Once LAC came up with a list of schools I should visit, I then chose which schools I would apply to. LAC is very good with suggestions of schools for you, while still allowing you to make all the decisions. Chad made the whole process extremely easy by helping me set up SSAT dates, prepare for the SSAT, helped me write my application essays, guided me through my application as a whole, and even did everything he could to get me into my top choices for schools. In the end, Chad became more like family above everything else. It was an unforgettable experience.

Would you recommend LAC to others? Explain.

Absolutely. You will not find better service anywhere else. Anyone who is applying to prep schools or college should certainly try LAC’s services. The prep school and college processes are some the most stressful on the path to adulthood. But LAC’s dedication to make the next chapter of my life a perfect one, ultimately changed my life in the best way possible. It was stress free and relaxing. I highly recommend it.

Summer College Prep for Rising Seniors

You've just wrapped up your Junior year in high school, and while the summer months are perfect for relaxing, traveling, and hanging with friends, it's a wise decision to put some of your time towards getting ready for college.

Follow these tips and tricks to prep yourself for the college admissions process, so that you'll be not only ahead of the game, but so that you'll have less stress when it's time to really dig in and get to work on your applications.

1. Attend an ACT/SAT camp, take a class, or hire a tutor. When the standardized tests come back around, will you be ready?

2. Get an internship or a summer job.  Perhaps look for something that you would possibly be interested in studying once you get to college. Or go the other direction and looks to have a whole new experience.  And yes, a little money in your pocket does not hurt.

3. Volunteer.  You'll be providing value to three places: helping those in need, gaining tremendous character-building experience, and boosting your resume.

4. Head out to visit colleges. The adventure can be a ton of fun, and you'll get to see the schools on your list first-hand, learning if the campus - and it's location - is right for you.

5. Make connections. Build out your online profile, join LinkedIn, follow and build a relationship on social media with a number of colleges.

6. Work on your college essay. Set aside some quiet time to get the creative juices flowing, and begin drafting your essay. You may find that not having other school-work to attend to will make writing in the summer that much easier. And keep in mind - with a 650 word limit for the Common App essay, you'll need to be a descriptive as possible while being as concise as possible.

7. Connect with your parents.  Make sure that you are all on the same page with this college process.  It's a big decision, and your decision, so make sure that you review your train of thought with them. And yes, this includes developing a financial aid plan!

8. Summer reading. On a beach, in the shade, in the quiet of your own home...summer reading can be a terrific (and relaxing) activity.

With any questions on the college process, from essay writing to financial aid, do not hesitate to contact us at info@leonardandrew.com!
